de la hoja y causa una defoliación severa cuando está presente. Su forma de alimentarse es muy peculiar, destruyendo solo la epidermis de la hoja, en vez de alimentarse de hojas enteras como otras orugas. Los árboles afectados muestran hojas esqueletonizadas, la mayoría de estas en racimos, entretejidas unas con otras. La oruga usualmente permanece en esta red y cuando se acaba el alimento, se mueve y hace otra red en hojas nuevas, hasta que ha madurado completamente y está lista para pupar.

This is a very common moth in the Island. This species is very variable in color, ranging from pale yellow to bright yellow with dark purplish brown markings on the wings. The caterpillar, when fully grown, is of a shiny dirty-green color with a translucent body and slimy appearance. The caterpillar is a leaf-webber and causes tremendous defoliation when it becomes abundant. Its system of feeding is very peculiar, destroying only the epidermis of the leaf instead of feeding on the entire leaves as most caterpillars do. Trees attacked show many skeletonized leaves, most of them in bunches webbed together. The caterpillar usually remains, among the webs and when the food supply is exhausted, it moves and makes another web of fresh leaves, until it becomes fully mature and ready to pupate.

Esta oruga es atacada por las moscas Argyrophylax albicinsa (Wiedemann) y Carcelia flavirostris van der Wulp. La avispa calcídida, Brachymeria incerta (Cresson) y la avispa bracónida Microbracon cushmani Muesebeck, son también parásitos importantes de esta alevilla.

The caterpillar is attacked by the flies Argyrophylax albicinsa (Wiedemann) and Carcelia flavirostris van der Wulp. The chalcid, Brachymeria incerta (Cresson) and tha braconid Microbracon cushmani Muesebeck, are also important parasites of this pest.
